How To:

Here’s how to approach The Isolation Journals—though, of course, you should feel free to make it your own.

  • Start a new journal, just for this. Set aside 10-15 minutes when you first wake up. If inspiration strikes, allow yourself to go longer.

  • This journal is for you. That said, if you’d like to connect with others participating in the project, join the Facebook group or search the hashtag #TheIsolationJournals on social media. Sharing is completely optional.

The goal of this is not to write the next King Lear or to churn out publishable masterpieces. It’s an opportunity to pause, take a few moments to exhale and reflect, and to expand our creativity as a community during these extremely challenging times.

 FAQ’s

I just learned about The Isolation Journals. Can I still join?

Yes! The project is ongoing, and you can jump in at any time. Sign up here, and we’ll email you a prompt every Sunday at 5 AM (ET). We encourage you to think of the weekly prompt as a springboard to your journaling throughout the week.

I didn’t get a prompt in my inbox. Can you help?

If you sign up after the weekly prompt goes out, you won’t receive a prompt until the following Sunday. To keep emails from landing in spam and promotions folders, please add theisolationjournals@substack.com to your contact list.

How do I share my journaling?

This practice is for you, but if you care to share your work, you can do so:

Can I invite others to join?
